Ya Look Good! — yeah — whatever!

“Ya Look Good!” she said in a sweet southern drawl as she smiled quaintly and gave me the princess hand wave.  She was clad in a cute summer sundress with hair and make-up done to perfection and she was taking her very small dog out to go potty.  She looked like one of those women [...]

The Wright Socks Part 2

Okay, I’ve changed my mind about the socks.  In fact, I really try hard not to run without them.  Why?? Well, they really do feel nice on the foot and when you are going long distances it makes a differences because these socks don’t retain all the sweat.  That might not sound like much, but [...]

The Wright Socks

It’s been 3 runs with my new “Wright Socks.” They are actually pretty nice.  Today I did 12 miles in them and let me tell you it was H-O-T here in Orlando, FL this morning.  These socks are nice, in that, when I am done with my run, I don’t have to peel them off [...]

The Running Store and Me

Today Track Shack had a nice sale on shoes, clothing, and socks.  Socks??  You may wonder and frankly,  me too, but a very nice pair of running socks are supposed to change your world.  Today, I bought a pair because of a blister turned callous on my foot.  Mostly this blister came about because of [...]

The Not-So-Smart Week for Me

Well, this week, let’s just say my many idiotic mistakes humbled me   I was definitely above the normal range for stupid decisions this week.  The biggest mistake I made was with my running.  I wanted to sleep in on Sunday morning, so I decided to do my long run Saturday late afternoon/evening.  The [...]

The Number 15

15 miles has always been difficult for me.  I’m not sure why, but it has been.  I was supposed to run the long 15 yesterday, but easily talked myself out of it as I lay in bed next to JR all warm and snuggly.  So, today was the day.  This actually will fit our schedule [...]

First 5 weeks complete

Today was the completion of the first 5 weeks for marathon training.  I ran twelve miles at a 9:14:30 pace.  I am shooting for a 9 minute pace for the marathon.  This will be difficult for me to accomplish, but it’s worth a shot.  I’d like to finish the race at or under 4 hours.  [...]

Six Mile Goal

Well, I ran six miles at an 8:26 pace.  I was pretty happy about this.  I really like my new shoes, Saucony The Ride, mine are the blue/navy color.  I was thankful to get them on sale at Track Shack our local running store.  I like supporting the local running store.  They [...]

Almost at Next Running Milestone

Today I ran 5 miles at an 8:27 pace.  I am still grinning about this achievement.  My first milestone was to run 3 miles at an 8:15 pace.  Yeah, I made that one.  So, my next goal is to run 6 miles at 8:30.  After today, I think I can reach that goal.  To qualify [...]

My first marathon

On November 30th I was thankfully able to run my first marathon, The Space Coast Marathon. It was a lot of fun. I was able to finish in 4:26:01 which is a 10:10 pace. Here’s the link for the Results. I could not have done it without the help of JR [...]

Very Helpful ITBS Site

Later in the morning, I ran 4.7 miles at a 9:17 pace. The ITBS was a tiny bit sore. So, I did some stretches off of The Running Times Magazine site. They were very helpful and it has some strengthening exercises on it as well.

My first 20

I ran 20 miles on Saturday. That is the farthest I have run yet. My pace was 9:57, so it took a little under 3 hours and 20 minutes. I felt okay except for the side of my left knee. It started to hurt around mile 17. I think it’s [...]

17 miles

These pics were taken in the evening time frame.
This is one of the reasons I love running. I love the views around where we live, especially in the morning. In the early morning, I get to see the sun rise over the settings above. It’s very beautiful and peaceful. Today I [...]

12 miles and 1289 calories

Well I had to do the long run today. Twelve miles in one hour and 57 minutes – about a 9:44 pace. All is good except for my right foot. I am going to have to see a podiatrist. Hopefully, I will be able to finish my training and run the [...]

1101 calories

1101 calories, that is how many calories I burned in my 10.25 mile run this morning according to my Forerunner Garmin 205. It was a much nicer run than last week because I left 30 minutes earlier and the scenery was a bit different. Instead of running in North Shore, I ran to [...]

Running and Me

My favorite form of exercise is by far running. I don’t run extremely fast, I guess that’s an understatement ? I recently ran a 10K around a 9:38 pace. Today I ran 9 miles at a 10 minute pace. It felt good, but a little tiring. Afterwards, I had some [...]
